Before transferring your domain to IQ Hosting, you must first make sure that the domain is unlocked for transfer at the current registrar. If the transfer lock is enabled, the transfer will not be completed even if the authorization code is correct.

The transfer lock may appear in your current registrar’s control panel under different names, such as Transfer Lock, Domain Lock, or Registrar Lock.

Why do you need to unlock the domain?

The transfer lock is a security feature used by domain registrars to prevent unauthorized domain transfers. Therefore, it must be disabled from your current registrar’s control panel before starting the domain transfer request to IQ Hosting.

How to unlock your domain

  1. Log in to your account at the current domain registrar.
  2. Go to the domains or domain management section.
  3. Select the domain you want to transfer to IQ Hosting.
  4. Open the domain settings or transfer settings page.
  5. Look for the transfer lock option, such as Transfer Lock, Domain Lock, or Registrar Lock.
  6. Disable the lock or choose Unlock.
  7. Save the changes if required by the control panel.
After unlocking the domain: You can continue the transfer request through the Domain Transfer section at IQ Hosting.

Temporarily disable domain privacy

We also recommend temporarily disabling domain privacy protection before starting the transfer, if it is enabled at the current registrar. This option may appear as WHOIS Privacy, Domain Privacy, or Privacy Protection.

Temporarily disabling privacy protection may help make domain ownership verification easier and speed up the transfer approval process, especially if confirmation emails are related to the domain owner details.

After the transfer is completed: Domain privacy protection will be enabled again automatically on our side if the domain extension supports this feature.

If you cannot find the domain transfer lock option in your current registrar’s control panel, please contact the registrar’s support team and ask them to disable the transfer lock for your domain.

Important notes before transferring your domain

Before starting the transfer, make sure that:
• The domain is unlocked for transfer
• You have the correct EPP Code or Authorization Code
• You can access the email address associated with the domain if needed
• The domain is not expired or very close to expiration
• The domain has not been registered or transferred within the last 60 days

After completing these steps, you can request the domain transfer to IQ Hosting through the Domain Transfer section, and the transfer will be processed according to the domain extension and the current registrar’s procedures.
